Course Content
Our residential training content is broken down into 5 parts:
1. Tau Lun / Forms
Starting with our first form: San Zhan.
Our first form contains the core of our system in terms of performance and application - that is
to say it teaches how ( in what spirity and with what concepts ) our applications are applied.
Of course all the applications are not actually within the first form - if you like a good way to
think of the form is that it teaches the attitude of the system.
These are the movents of San Zhan that we will be exploring:

2. Ben gong / Conditioning
Conditioning in our context is body conditioning.
We do not do a lot of aerobic conditioning. For our conditioning we use a series of tools, which we refer
to as "sticks , stones and ropes". From our perspective, the best conditioning tool you can use
is your training partner, but failing that, the second best is a trusy stick. We train with a variety
of sticks both wooden and metal.
3. Tui Shou / Push hands
Our push hands is used to develop our core concepts and as a base for training applications.
We start with the following single hand structure drills:

As well as being our favourite inanimate training friend, we cover a selection of stick applications
from our stick form as a series of drills which become more free form. Our stick is the english
equivalent of a quarterstaff in terms of size.
5. Shu Fa / Calligraphy / the arts
Traditionally there are 4 art forms in china: Writing, Painting, Music and Chess.
We will of course have some chinese chess boards for anyone that is interested in learning how to play chess.
We are lucky to have Tsang Lai Ming, the chinese lecturer from the University of the Balearics who will give
an evening course in brush work for us . It is expected that at the least the following phrases will be learnt for writing at this level:
